Hi I’m Shannon, nice to meet you!

I’m an independent business consultant, author, educator, coach, freelance grant writer and an award-winning fundraiser.

My journey into fundraising within the not-for-profit sector wasn’t really part of my life plan, but there is absolutely no doubt that my fundraising journey and experiences have greatly shaped who I am today. In 2004, after several years working in business and resource management roles in the private and government sectors, I commenced my very first not-for-profit role managing corporate services for Lifeline Australia in Canberra.

What followed was seven-year period of immense personal development, knowledge and skills acquisition, as I joined a visionary CEO and many other like-minded people who were passionate about mental health, suicide prevention and making a difference in the community. That first corporate services job role quickly evolved into one where I needed to apply my business skills and expertise to develop a national strategy, build programs and a team to successfully raise more money for the essential and lifesaving services that Lifeline provides to the community.

Over this time, major new national funding partnerships were formed, government funding increased, community donations increased, national campaigns were delivered and some of this valuable work undertaken by myself and other talented team members was recognised at the time with national awards from the Fundraising Institute of Australia. This set the path for an unexpected and ongoing fundraising career within the not-for-profit sector.

In 2013 I founded Fully Fund It. I wanted to synthesise all I had learnt about successful fundraising at Lifeline by developing a model and process that I could use to educate other fundraisers and not-for-profits, particularly the small to medium ones on how they could successfully raise more funds for their own worthy causes. I also further honed my fundraising skills in some other large not-for-profits in Victoria, including Guide Dogs and St Vincent de Paul Society.

In the 10 years since, I have self-published a fundraising book, YES You Can Fund It, I have delivered workshops and I have provided consultancy services to multiple other not-for-profits connected to my building blocks process.  This work has also led to a four-year period as CEO of Mental Health First Aid International where I had the immense privilege to lead this wonderful organisation and team, whilst also working to deliver a significant uplift in annual revenue under my leadership over 4 years (2019) – $9.6m to (2022) – $13.8m.

And now in 2024, I have again resumed my one-woman crusade to continue to educate as many not-for-profits as possible about how they too can raise funds or generate more revenue for their worthy causes by following and implementing my building blocks process.
